Ulus 18

ULUS 18 is the interior design of a 295 m² apartment in one of Istanbul’s most established residential neighbourhoods. Designed by ODA Creative + Architecture, the project reconfigures an existing plan to support contemporary patterns of living, balancing openness with intimacy. The design focuses on clarity of material expression, seamless circulation, and long-term adaptability.

The main living area is conceived as a continuous, light-filled space overlooking the Bosphorus. Full-height glazing maximises the view while bringing daylight deep into the plan, complemented by a neutral palette of oak flooring, natural fabrics, and dark accent furniture. Built-in seating integrates storage and creates a sense of permanence, while custom lighting fixtures articulate the ceiling without visual clutter.

In the private quarters, material warmth is emphasised through extensive oak panelling, continuous joinery, and a soft layering of fabrics. The master bedroom is defined by a bespoke patterned wall treatment that contrasts with the calm tonality of the textiles, while integrated side tables and suspended luminaires provide both rhythm and function. A secondary wall incorporates concealed wardrobes and a floating desk, transforming into a refined workspace and media unit.

Throughout the apartment, thresholds are minimised and storage is fully integrated into wall systems, allowing surfaces to remain uninterrupted. Lighting is deliberately understated—recessed, linear, or concealed—so that proportions, textures, and natural light define the atmosphere.

The overall composition privileges restraint and precision over spectacle. Every decision, from the joinery lines to the furniture placement, supports longevity, usability, and quiet elegance. ULUS 18 is a residence that feels generous not through scale, but through its sequencing and its ability to frame daily life with clarity and calm.
